When Clyro earns a commission on a Selected deal, the supplier pays it — transparently. Buyers pay no Clyro fees, ever — not on direct contact, Clyro Selected, or the optional Request Match concierge.
The name
Clyro comes from clear water.
Clyro is the anglicised form of the Welsh Cleirwy — the historic name of a brook in the Welsh countryside, derived from the Welsh for clear water. We chose it because clear water is what produce trade actually depends on: irrigation that meets MRL thresholds, post-harvest washing that meets BRC standards, cold-chain logistics that arrive uncontaminated. And clarity — about who you're really dealing with, what they can actually deliver, and at what price — is the rarest commodity in B2B produce trade. Clyro exists to make that clarity the default, not the exception. Every listing is audited. Every Selected SKU names its source. Every transaction is documented.

Clyro is built as a global verification network. Today we are activated for Egyptian fresh and frozen produce — the origin with the most concentrated trade opportunity for Gulf and EU buyers. Other origins (Morocco, Türkiye, Kenya, Spain) come online as we onboard verified exporters and build the country-specific verification framework. Buyers searching for an origin we haven't activated yet see a transparent message — and we use that demand signal to prioritize which origin to open next.

We sit between buyers and growers as infrastructure, not as a vendor. Every exporter on Clyro completes a documented seven-pillar verification before they appear in the directory. Every Selected SKU names the supplier who actually produces it.
Two paths run side by side. The verified directory lets buyers browse exporters and contact them directly with no Clyro fees. Clyro Selected is a smaller, hand-picked set of anchor SKUs where Clyro coordinates spec, QC, certification, and origin-side paperwork end-to-end — paid by the named supplier as a transparent coordination fee, never by the buyer. Freight and destination customs are buyer-arranged or available as paid Service Partner add-ons.
Why we built it
The produce trade is hard to verify. We make it documented.
In a market this hard to verify, the platform that documents verification credibly wins the trust premium procurement teams already need but cannot find.
Cross-border produce trade is one of the largest trade flows in the world, and one of the hardest to verify. Buyers struggle to check suppliers. Suppliers struggle to reach new buyers without leaking margin to layers of intermediaries. Documentation is scattered. Verification is informal. Quality complaints lose paper trails.
Clyro takes a different approach. We document verification. We name suppliers. We separate two business models cleanly: free direct contact in the directory, transparent coordination on Selected. We don't sit on inventory and we don't intermediate anonymous deals.
